IRYO STATEMENT ON INTERIM PAYMENTS FOR THE ADAMUZ ACCIDENT
Dear customer,
We at iryo would first like to express our deepest support and solidarity to all those affected and their families following the railway accident on 18 January 2026. Further to the information we previously provided, we would like to clarify in simple terms how the interim payments provided for under current regulations for those injured or deceased in the accident work.
In accordance with Article 15 of Regulation (EU) 2021/782 on the rights and obligations of rail passengers, you are entitled to receive immediate financial assistance to meet urgent needs arising from the accident.
We at iryo will proceed with payments to injured passengers and, where applicable, to the next of kin of deceased passengers, once proof of relationship or status has been provided. The following amounts will be provided by iryo:
(i) In the event of death: iryo will pay an interim amount of €35,000.
(ii) In the event of injury: this assistance will be determined on an individual basis, depending on immediate financial needs and in proportion to the injuries suffered.
These interim payments are provisional and, in accordance with the provisions of Article 15.3 of Regulation (EU) 2021/782, do not imply any acknowledgement of liability nor constitute a final settlement. This assistance is provided independently of the ongoing investigation and the liabilities arising from the cause of the accident, as well as the full extent of the damage suffered, which could increase the compensation to be received.
To guide you through and facilitate this process, affected passengers or their relatives can contact the Dedicated Support Line at [email protected], where they will receive information on the required steps.
We at iryo reiterate our full cooperation with the competent authorities and commitment to supporting affected passengers, within the applicable legal framework, at this especially difficult time.
As always, we remain at your complete disposal for any questions or needs that may arise.
Yours faithfully,
iryo Team
